Notes for Jane Plews

Her marriage certificate (1848) says she was a spinster, and that her father David was a Miner, presumably still alive then. A David Plews was a witness on the marriage certificate.

The only David Plews in the village around that time are:
1) David Plews, c.1840 (listed in 1851 as John Russell's "son-in-law", which I assume is what we would call "step-son" today. He also appears with Jane in the 1841 census, and is her son.
2) David Plews, c.1812, presumably Jane's brother, married to Mary, with a family of his own.
3) David Plews, c.1844, son of David c.1812.

None of these are old enough to be Jane's father.

Who is the father of Jane's son David? As Jane was reportedly a spinster at the time of her marriage to James, then her son David was presumably illegitimate. His birth certificate confirms this.
