Died before 1879. James Russell was a widower when he married E. A. Gill.

I now have the marriage certificate of James Russell and Annie Hustwick (GRO ref: 1871 Dec Skipton 9a 95).

They were married on 21 Dec 1871 in the Baptist Chapel, Skipton "according to the rights and ceremonies of the Particular Baptists by certificate". His age was given as 23, and hers as 26. (I think they lied about their ages to make the age gap appear less - he was really 22 and she was about 29). Both were unmarried. His profession is Carpenter and hers is Milliner. Both are resident in Skipton. His father is John Russell, a lead miner, and hers is Robert Hustwick, a farm manager. The witnesses were Christopher Brooks and Lizzie Hustwick (surely Annie's sister). This seals it for me. We have the same Annie Hustwick.
