Notes for Edward Godkin
Elizabeth Wilson's notes:

"Marriage record states his occupation as a saleman. He and Honora were married by Rev. Richard Smyth. Witnessses were Patrick Murphy and Cons O'Brien.
The family obviously stayed in Cork for a couple of years and then moved to Dublin until at least 1871 as there address on their daughter Honora's baptism was 28 Essex Street, Dublin City.
We next know of him from the 1881 Census taken on the 3/4/1881 where he resided with wife Honora and children James, Mary, Elizabeth and Edward at 135 Abbeyfield Road, London. He listed occupation as a commercial traveller aged 55 years. His wife was 45 years. There was also a lodger living with them - Peter DeSue from Norway. The 15/4/1891 Census, has the family still residing at 135 Abbeyfield Road, London, but there is now only Edward, his wife Nora and their son Edward, who is 16. Edward Snr. is still a commercial trav[eller]. By 31/3/1901 census, Edward and Nora are at Bristol in County Wicklow and Edward says he is still a commercial traveller, and 75 years of age.
He dies on 27th July 1901 at 211 Cornwall Road, Tottenham, Middlesex and his death certificate said he was 72."

Thomas Mitchell, the 1891 lodger, is probably the husband of Nora (1862).
