There are two entries in the parish registers of St Mary Le Ghyll's, Barnoldswick. Both read: John Pickles son of Wm of Gargrave. One was probably for 1850 (some confusion). The other was for 1851.
Did William have two sons called John?
If so, need to find the birth or christening of the second one.
It would seem unlikely that two William Pickles with sons called John lived in Gargrave at that time, and that both used Barnoldswick instead of Skipton.
And why did he use Barnoldswick parish when living in Gargrave?
