Notes for Edward Heysam
His surname appears several times in the Early Registers of Runcorn, in a style which could be read either as Heysam or Heysum.
He fathered a bastard son before his marriage to Martha, for the Early Registers of Runcorn have this entry under 1714 Baptisms: "John a bastard child of Eliza: Okell of Halton by Edwrd. Heysum [born] Feb 27 [baptised] March 13 [1714/15]". The mother's surname is hard to make out, but Okell is a plausible reading and there are other Okell's in the parish at the time.
