Wally McMahon, private communication, 13 Sep 2007:

"This James [Godkin] married first to Susanna Lecky in 1766 and, after she had died young, James remarried to Alice (believed 'Webster') and which family went to County Wicklow and where one of their children was Edward Godkin of Newtown Mount Kennedy."

A later communication, 27 Jun 2008, from Wally to Elizabeth Wilson, says;

"In a Report to Parliament on Education in 1824, James and Susanna Godkin are serving as Teachers at Wicklow Gaol."

This was unearthed by a researcher looking at the Kew archives for Wally.

Who is this couple? The date 1824 is much too late for them to be the parents of our Edward (c. 1776).
