Never married. Was a nurse during WWI. Went to Athens after WWI as nanny to children of British ambassador. Taught English. Was in Greece from 1919 to 1940. She was one of the last out before the Germans invaded. She went to India, and finished WWII as the matron of a large army hospital with the rank of Colonel.
