We [Christine Szabo and Sue Ellis] found that this couple [John Jack and Philadelphia Johnston Fotheringham] died within a day of each other in early spring 1838. They were victims of the Cholera epidemic and were buried in unmarked graves in North Leith. We visited the site of the graves while we were in Edinburgh.
