Notes for James Swift
Family legends have it that he was master of Salford workhouse. This might be incorrect, as we can find James Swift as the master of Burnley Union Workhouse in the 1901 census.

It is also said that he had one daughter, who married Hartley, a salesman for a spinning mill. This needs verification.
